Disclosure Documentation
As an insurance provider British Insurance is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). According to FSA regulations we have to provide a disclosure document for our customers. This document is designed to give you the information you need to know about British Insurance. Reading the information below will simply help you assess whether our services will suit your needs or not.
- Our services: Our business services do not include giving advice or consultation about insurance policies and recommendations. We are here to help you find policies that you have already assessed as potentially being suitable for your needs. Our service, therefore, is limited to providing quotes for the policies you enquire about. At this stage the information provided with the quote may help you to make an informed decision.
- Our charges: We do not charge any fees or costs for our services.
- Our regulatory requirements: British Insurance is regulated by and authorised to operate by the Financial Services Authority. Our registration number is: 302674. We are registered to provide insurance mediation services for non-investment types of insurance policies. - Complaints: Our aim is to provide market leading levels of service to our customers. If we do receive a complaint then we take due care to ensure that your issues/comments are fully investigated. Formal complaints will be acknowledged in writing and you will be given a contact name who will work with you as the matter is being dealt with. Once our investigation is complete you will be advised of our findings in writing.

In the unlikely event that we cannot settle a complaint to your satisfaction then you can refer the issue to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
- Our membership of the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme): British Insurance has full FSCS coverage. This means that you may be given compensation if we fail to/cannot meet our stated claims obligations. This usually covers the first £2,000 of insurance claims in most cases and 90% of any remaining balance. - Your duty of disclosure: It is your responsibility to make sure that your insurer knows all relevant information about you and your circumstances when you take out a policy. You must also keep them informed of any changes to your circumstances. These policies are legal contracts. If you fail to disclose information or provide information that is inaccurate or incomplete then you could invalidate your insurance policy and you may not be allowed to claim on it.
- Our commitment to data protection: We treat any personal data or information that we hold about our customers as private and will use it confidentially. This data/information is only used/disclosed to third parties if it is needed to arrange cover.
